Delta40 Workshops
Inclusive ESOPs for African Ventures
Delta40 hosted a workshop on Inclusive ESOPs for African Ventures, led by Portfolio Director Elana Laichena. The session covered phantom share schemes, decision-making, ESOP trust setup, and tax regulations. Resources are available for further exploration, reflecting Delta40's commitment to fostering inclusive growth and sustainable practices in African tech.
Carbon Finance for African Start-ups
A workshop on Carbon Finance with Matt Evans (UpEnergy) and Neil (Block), covering carbon project eligibility, registration, revenue maximization, and connecting with buyers and financiers. Participants gained practical strategies for leveraging carbon finance. Resources are available, highlighting Delta40’s commitment to supporting African startups in climate finance.
Debt Investor Roundtable
Delta40 hosted a Debt Investor Roundtable with 35 debt investors and 20 startups, discussing structuring debt deals for early and growth-stage ventures. Participants exchanged insights, explored best practices, and gained a deeper understanding of Africa's debt landscape, types of debt providers, and lending requirements. Ecosystem events
E-Mobility Indaba
Delta40 hosted the E-Mobility Indaba, featuring insights from Katie Hill (BCG), US Ambassador Meg Whitman, and Richard Farquhar (Rivian). Key takeaways included leveraging renewable energy, focusing on key markets, and supportive policies to lead in e-mobility. Emphasis was on subsidies, reduced taxes, and local manufacturing incentives to accelerate EV adoption in Africa.
Ecosystem Day
Delta40's inaugural Ecosystem Day united founders, investors, and leaders to empower entrepreneurs, explore growth capital structures, and foster connections. Highlights included sessions on scaling and exit strategies, leadership, and capital strategy, featuring experts Ada Osakwe and Laurie Spengler. The event also launched the Delta40 Investor Group and concluded with and an Ecosystem Mixer.
Nairobi Angel Investor Dinner
Samaking, a Delta40 venture, aims to make fish the primary protein in Africa while supporting fish farmers. Hosting an Angel Investors Roundtable, they discussed trends in aquaculture and Samaking's efforts to improve fish availability in Kenya. The event highlighted Samaking's transformative approach and opportunities to support sustainable aquaculture for food security.
Delta40 Launch Event
During the Delta40 launch US Ambassador Meg Whitman highlighted Delta40's innovative support for African founders, aiming to scale innovative ideas, increase incomes, and tackle climate change across Africa.
Delta40 Investor Dinner NBO
The Delta40 Investor Dinner in Nairobi united a community dedicated to advancing African entrepreneurship. Attendees engaged with Delta40's mission and heard from founders of early portfolio companies. Look forwars to more such events.

Delta40 Female Founders Entrepreneur-in-Residence Program (March-July 2024)
We recently kicked-off an Entrepreneur-in-Residence program for a small, curated cohort of stellar female founders building across energy, aquaculture, agriculture, sustainable food systems, and agroforestry (you can read about their backgrounds here). This program aims to help women make the leap into entrepreneurship and to create a community of female entrepreneurs while covering customer discovery, investment readiness, and transformational leadership.
